SANBS takes the privacy of children very seriously. There is no reason why children under the age of 16 years should need to submit personal details on this website, and we discourage children under the age of 16 years from doing so.
Children between the ages of 16 and 18 years should obtain their guardian’s consent before providing / submitting any personal information about themselves on the SANBS website.
If SANBS determines that a user is under the age of 16, SANBS will not use or maintain his/her personal information without the guardian’s consent.

to inform you of SANBS promotional events or donor clinics

to ensure that you do not donate blood at a time when it may put your health at risk;

If at any stage, after you have given us your consent, you no longer wish us to use or share your personal information with an affiliate party; you may at any stage withdraw your consent.

We value the information that you choose to provide us with and will therefore take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from loss, misuse or unauthorised alteration. The information we maintain concerning our donors is stored in databases that have built-in safeguards to ensure the privacy and confidentiality of that information.
When you use this website, you may be given an access number, user name, password and/or personal identification number (PIN). You are responsible for maintaining the secrecy and confidentiality of your user name, access card, password and/or personal identification number (“PIN”).
You may be aware that SANBS does, from time to time, take part in research activities which are aimed at enhancing blood transfusion and related services. In the event that you have agreed (per the donor questionnaire), that samples from your donation may be used for research purposes, SANBS shall only use such donation samples once the samples have been de-identified. Accordingly, no personal information shall be disclosed during or after the research activities.
